Any foreign visitor wishing to enter Japan must have a passport, which will remain in effect during the period of stay.
Citizens of many countries are eligible to enter Japan without a visa only if the purpose of the visit is to reside in Japan, to get a job or otherwise engage in income-generating activities.
Below is a list of the citizens of the countries that have "Reciprocal Visa Exemption Arrangements" with Japan.

Notes: In the case of waiver of visa requirements for up to three months or 90 days, and foreigners are granted upon landing in case of a temporary visit for 90 days (15 days for Brunei). Nationals of countries and regions that have taken measures concerning the waiver of visa requirements with Japan for stays of up to six months in principle to grant permission to reside in Japan for 90 days at the time of landing. Nationals from these countries and regions who wish to stay in Japan for more than 90 days must apply at their nearest immigration authorities in Japan for the extension of the period of stay.
Citizens of countries that do not have "Reciprocal Visa Exemption Arrangements" with Japan must obtain a visa.
"The temporary visitor visa" is usually as required to allow him to stay in Japan for up to 90 days of activities is rewarding, such as sightseeing, participating in amateur sports, visiting relatives, with the inspection tours, and participate in lectures or research, attend conferences, making business contacts or other similar activities.

Apply for a visa, the applicant must apply in person to the embassy or consulate of Japan, and usually in his or her country of origin. The following documents must be submitted whatever the purpose of the visit, you will make:

=> Official visa application form, available at the embassy or consulate (3)
=> The instruments of ratification on the purpose of the visit (4)
- As a kind of documents required for the application may vary according to the purpose of your visit, the applicant is advised to make sure the Japanese embassy or consulate in advance.
Exemption of visa fees: Some citizens of 60 countries all over the world are exempt from the visa fee.
